Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day, otherwise known as Bring Your Personal Life to Work Day.
Sure, it's cool to hate on Valentine's Day, and that gets a little old, but the truth is Valentine's Day brings an element of anxiety to the cubicle community because it forces people -- on one level or another -- to compare their personal lives, their love lives in particular. Relationships and matters of the heart are difficult, and often different on any given day, but Valentine's Day is the one day we measure our love lives as a nation -- and this gives a platform to the cynics and romantics around us. (Hint: the romantics in your office will be wearing red.)
So have a happy Valentine's Day and enjoy watching people act like people on an awkward day in a supervised environment. And feel free to post any comments regarding how Valentine's Day went down -- flowers, chocolate, someone crying in the bathroom -- at your workplace.
