Every professional knows that sick days are not for being sick; they are days for calling in sick. Savvy business people know who they are: They know their own hearts, they know their own minds, they know their own immune systems. If you get the flu every year and have fourteen days of sick leave, factor in five sick days for being legitimately sick, plus four more for other ailments such as bad colds, general depression, and a twisted ankle. The remaining five days are, of course, "sick of work" vacation days. Though using these sick days forces you to lie to your boss and maybe even fake a lingering cough when you return, the benefits far outweigh the risks.
