Cubicle Food: Happy 40th Cup Noodles

Cubicle workers everywhere should enjoy a serving of Cup Noodles at their desk this week to celebrate the product's 40th birthday. Cubicle workers on a budget, of which there are millions, feel no shame in saving money by sucking it up and having Cup Noodles at lunch instead of that preferable $8 sandwich from that pseudo-gourmet shop across the street. If only the rest of the country were that responsible with their money.

Loved the "cup o' noodles" since I was a kid. Ate them when I was camping, on the go, on a budget, in school and everywhere... well almost. I just loved that genuinely wholesome "preternatural" goodness.

Yep, Cup Noodles has gotten many people through tough times and has become the iconic brand symbol for budget conscious consumers. It's up there with Spam as the best worst kinda food.

And yes, also an excellent, lightweight meal for campers!

SAFETY ALERT – CUP NOODLE SOUPS POSE A SERIOUS BURN DANGER TO CHILDREN!!!

Instant cups of soup — the kind that often come in a Styrofoam cup full of noodles — send children to the hospital every day.

"I don't have them in my house," says Dr. Warren Garner, director of the burn unit at University of Southern California's County Hospital in Los Angeles. "I would say that we see at least two to three patients a week who've been injured by these products."

These soups are dangerous because of the way the cups are designed. The cups are tall, lightweight, and have an unstable base that makes them tip over easily. At Garner's unit, the most common cases are small children, often toddlers, accidentally tipping the cup over on to themselves. Read More:
