For many cubicle dwellers, the Human Resources Department represents the corporation, the man, those people who make you watch boring orientation videos and tell you to whom to email your self-evaluation. But they're also the people between you and mind-boggling insurance policies and changing insurance paradigms that have a direct impact on your health, your spouse's health, your children's health, not to mention you paycheck, your retirement plan, and your general well-being in the workplace. They're also human beings who react better to people who treat them with respect, so do yourself a favor: say hello to the CEO in the elevator, but hug your HR person, and ask them about their day.
